JOB TITLE: Executive Director

The HRDC is an organization that exists to help our communities, and our Region as a whole, be successful. We do that by helping new businesses start-up and existing businesses expand, improving housing and transportation, increasing opportunities for healthy living and promoting other regional strategies designed for the betterment of our Region. This organization serves Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, and Mahnomen Counties.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Community and Regional Planning, or related area, or substantial work experience in related fields as mentioned. At least 5 years of experience in Public Administration, Community and Regional planning, or related areas. Must have proven leadership and supervisory skills.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the Commission and is responsible for directing and coordinating all Commission functions and programs to achieve objectives that are established by the Commission. Responsibilities shall include: Supervision of team members, management of finances, recommend policy changes to the Commission, for action, and shall represent the Commission at all times in a professional manner.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Knowledge of this organization and working knowledge of related local, state, and general government. Knowledge of fiscal requirements of local governments to include strategic planning and budgeting.
- Possess the ability to communicate effectively, vocally and in writing, and to have strong public relation skills.
- Possess the ability to foster and encourage a team oriented approach to the work environment at all times.
- Ability to select, train, motivate, and supervise team members to affect a high degree of effectiveness and personal job satisfaction among team members, in the spirit of team cooperation.
- Establish and maintain a nurturing, effective relationship with all participants.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Community and Regional Planning, or related area, or substantial working experience in related fields as mentioned.
Other:
Possess a valid driver’s License.
This position requires a working and/ or personal knowledge of our 5-county area that comprises the HRDC, understanding the diversity of the population and unique needs in each county.
Preference will be given to candidate with this knowledge.
This position is also responsible to effectively communicate at all times with the Board of Commissioners and the Executive Committee. Other duties are outlined in documents to be forwarded with application.
