JOB TITLE: Executive Director

DEPARTMENT: Regional Economic Development

SUPERVISOR: HRDC Board of Commissioners

The HRDC is an organization that assists in the regional development of personal businesses, helps develop business plans for new business owners and to further develop existing business goals, transportation goals, housing needs, healthy living opportunities, and other regional goals for the betterment of our region. This organization is comprised of Beltrami. Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods, & Mahnomen counties.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in public administration, regional planning, or related area, or substantial work experience in related fields as mentioned.

At least 5 years of experience in public administration, regional planning, or related areas. Proven leadership & supervisory skills.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the Commission and is responsible for directing and coordinating all Commission functions and programs to achieve objectives that are established by the Commission. Responsibilities shall include: Supervision of team members. Management of finances Recommend Policy changes to Commission, for action. Represent Commission at all times in a professional manner.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledge of this organization and working knowledge of related local, state, and general government. Knowledge of fiscal requirements of local governments to include strategic planning and budgeting.

Possess the ability to communicate effectively, vocally and in writing, and to have strong public relation skills.

Possess the ability to foster and encourage a team oriented approach to the work environment at all times.

Ability to select, train, motivate, and supervise team members to affect a high degree of effectiveness, personal job satisfaction among team members, in the spirit of team cooperation.

Establish and maintain a nurturing, effective relationship with all participants.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education: Bachelor's Degree in public Administration, Regional Planning, or related area, or substantial working experience in related fields as mentioned.

Possess a valid driver’s License.

Other:

This position requires a working and/ or personal knowledge of our 5 county area that comprises the HRDC, understanding the diverse land mass differences and the needs in each county.

Preference will be given to candidate with this knowledge.

This position is also responsible to effectively communicate at all times with the Executive Board and the Board of Commissioners, Other duties are outlined in documents to be forwarded with application.
